ASUS Launched The New ROG Z790 APEX

Tony Yu, also known as Uncle Tony and the General Manager of Asus China, recently addressed questions from viewers and ASUS fans in a video posted on Chinese social platforms. One of the questions referred to the ROG Z790 APEX motherboard, ASUS’s premium overclocking board, which has experienced a change in pricing.
According to Tony, this motherboard is no longer in production, but this is due to ASUS preparing to launch an updated version. Much like Gigabyte and MSI, ASUS is in the process of refreshing its Z790 lineup to align with the next-gen Core series called Raptor Lake Refresh. These new boards will bring incremental improvements to existing designs, including the integration of the WiFi-7 standard, new color choices, enhanced power delivery, and improvements in memory overclocking capabilities.

The ROG MAXIMUS Z790 APEX motherboard was initially released in November of the previous year at a price of $699. It boasts 24 power supply modules and dual 8Pin power connectors to support extreme overclocking with Core processors.
The motherboard features AI-driven overclocking technology and supports DDR5 memory at speeds exceeding 8000 MT/s. It provides five M.2 interfaces, a 2.5G network card, WiFi 6E, USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C connectivity, and 60W QC 4+ fast charging.
In December, the ROG APEX motherboard was used to achieve a world record CPU frequency of 9008.82MHz with an Intel i9-13900K processor. It’s conceivable that the upcoming generation of Intel Core processors will enable ASUS and overclocking enthusiasts to reach even higher frequencies.
It is worth noting that Tony also teased that ASUS might launch the first ROG design featuring connectors on the other side, as the company has already experimented with the idea for cheaper TUF models. This feature is unlikely to be part of the APEX series, but there might be a new ROG entirely or a variant of an existing platform using these types of connectors.
